“The Fact That I Am Not Where I Want To Be Should Be Enough Motivation”

About Phumzile

I am a young woman who grew up in Tembisa. The fourth born of five, I was raised by a single mother together with my siblings. Being raised by a single mother was not a great experience but I am forever grateful for the love and strength that God has blessed my mother with. She has been the best mom ever and she made sure that all we wished for, we could get. My mom is my hero and she is my number one motivation because I want her to live the best moments of her life through my successes.

As the first in my family to go to university, I am very proud of myself and so is my family. I invested so much of myself into education and self-development. Growing up, I found it hard to identify my talents, but I can see that I am academically gifted.

Coming from the township I am from, it is profound for me to have reached a tertiary level of education and I would like to see more youth from my community following in my footsteps. I decided from a young age that I wanted to go to varsity and I have worked diligently to have come this far. I was very fortunate to get funding because this allowed me to follow my dreams with much stronger hunger.

Because I am passionate about education and charity work, I would like to be remembered for choosing to be different and bringing the change I have always wanted to see in my community. My everyday motivational quote is “The Fact That I Am Not Where I Want To Be Should Be Enough Motivation”.

As a #DuxPDAmbassador, I have learnt the importance of self-development and skills that one needs to prepare for the real world and to follow the dream no matter the obstacles.

Monday

Huffington Post reported that "Drinking Water Boosts Mental Performance". In a study, participants who drank about three cups of water ( 775 milliliters) before taking a battery of cognitive tests performed better on a test that measured reaction times compared with those who did not drink water.

Just be careful not to spill any water at the library!

Being dehydrated can have negative effects on your body and brain. Water is so beneficial, so easy, so free - yet so easily overlooked.

Library shelves FULL of knowledge

Academic libraries are an important part of higher education institutions and usually serve two complementary purposes: to support the curriculum and to support faculty and student research.
